Dear One,
It would seem, if the news is to be believed, we are “running out of options.” Among them are the options to make peace, to work together towards equity and justice, to save the planet, and to create new cultural narratives that free us all.
Too often we have been painted into a worldview, where life seems to be shrinking rather than expanding. Too often, we hear about what’s failing rather than what is succeeding.
Today’s RISE is about what we at BLOOM call “BOLD MOVES.” Simply said, these are moves that align with who you are, what you can do, and what you have.
Making a BOLD MOVE, runs counter to the dystopian narrative that sees things as falling apart.
To keep moving forward, towards that which you deeply desire is a revolutionary act. To do so subscribes to the realization that desire is stronger than fear; that fear is the product of our desires coming into being… that fear is not the opposite of love, rather it is the activity of love coming into being as you.
Like nature we are unrelenting in our desire to express. The desire to hear and be heard, to change, to play, to be free, to be seen, to connect, and to belong is natural.
When we are not aware of this we suffer. When we suffer we see life only as falling apart, and not more so that which is arising.
As we evolve cognitively as a species we are realizing more and more our connection to nature. With that realization comes great freedom to honor life’s flow.
Let’s continue with a poem I ran across recently by Anglo-Irish poet David Whyte. If you can read it in its entirety below. After you do, I will present you with a series of possible choices of things you can do today, to easily keep moving forward.
Start Close In
by David Whyte
“Start close in,
don’t take the second step
or the third,
start with the first
thing
close in,
the step
you don’t want to take.
Start with
the ground
you know,
the pale ground
beneath your feet,
your own
way to begin
the conversation.
Start with your own
question,
give up on other
people’s questions,
don’t let them
smother something
simple.
To hear
another’s voice,
follow
your own voice,
wait until
that voice
becomes an
intimate
private ear
that can
really listen
to another.
Start right now
take a small step
you can call your own
don’t follow
someone else’s
heroics, be humble
and focused,
start close in,
don’t mistake
that other
for your own.
Start close in,
don’t take
the second step
or the third,
start with the first
thing
close in,
the step
you don’t want to take.”
TO MAKE A BOLD MOVE IS TO SIMPLY DO WHAT YOU CAN WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. SUCH A MOVE TAKES THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE EVEN THOUGH IT MAY NOT BE A FAMILIAR PATH. IT IS A MOVE THAT COMES FROM A PLACE OF STILLNESS AND INTUITION.
It is a move that comes from listening deeply to your own sense of your vision and purpose.
It may be a big move that really shakes things up, or it may be a small adjustment that has a big impact!
Whether considered big or small a BOLD MOVE breaks the barriers of shame and anger to reveal our authentic selves.
What follows next are examples of the types of BOLD MOVES that while they are outward acts, they will also nourish your Soul, by honoring each of the five elements we at BLOOM recognize as the fuel for all living things.
As you read they notice which one calls out to you today. Then make that move. Give yourself what’s needed.
Here they are…
When your bones speak
MAKE A MOVE THAT CHALLENGES YOU TO LISTEN & SPEAK CLEARY YOUR DEEP STORY OR TO PAUSE HEAR THE DEEP STORIES OF OTHERS! Our deep stories are about the challenges we have overcome, our passions, talents, gifts and the goals we have chosen.
When change calls
MAKE A MOVE THAT TAKES YOU BEYOND A FAMILIAR BOUNDARY. Such a move takes you into unknown territory, where you might feel lost, yet thrilled by the possibility of discovering something or someone new.
To turn on your Light
MAKE A MOVE THAT CREATES GREATER VISIBILITY AND VALUE for you, your enterprises and causes. It is a move that makes you visible with an intention to stand for your value while appreciating the value of others.
When you need to be touched…
MAKE A MOVE THAT CONNECTS YOU COMPASSIONATELY with yourself and others who you are working with and want to serve. It is a move that honors your own well being and the well being of the people you are creating with.
When chaos demands order
MAKE A MOVE THAT GROUNDS YOU IN THE FACTS. It's a move that restores balance and integrity to your relationship, home, business or community. It could mean facing the facts about what’s going on with your finances, the results, data or numbers. Here you face the facts without shame or blame, and without attachment the result.
Did you spot something on this list that called out to you today?
It’s not something that you have to do. It can be something you choose to do, as an act of self-love, of honoring the desires that are being born in you.
Today, if you can, with what you have, MAKE THAT MOVE!
